More Than Diabetes Is Launching a Charity – And We Need Your Help

For years, More Than Diabetes has been helping people living with diabetes access specialist life insurance and financial protection. Along the way, we’ve spoken to thousands of people across the UK, listened to their stories, and gained a real understanding of the challenges that come with living with diabetes.

One thing has become clear: there is so much more to diabetes than insurance.

That’s why we are very excited to announce that we’re taking the next step in our journey by creating a brand-new charity dedicated to supporting people living with diabetes.

But before we do, we want to make sure we get it right.

A Charity Built by the Diabetes Community

Too often, organisations decide what people need without asking the people they’re trying to help.

We want to do things differently.

Rather than making assumptions, we’re inviting the diabetes community to help shape the charity from day one. Whether you’re living with Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, caring for someone with diabetes or supporting a loved one, your experiences are invaluable.

After all, who better to tell us what support is needed than the people living with diabetes every single day?

Practical Support That Makes a Difference

Our vision is simple.

We want to build a charity that focuses on practical, real-world support that genuinely improves people’s lives.

There are already some fantastic diabetes charities doing amazing work, but we believe there are still gaps that need to be filled.

Perhaps you’ve struggled to access information when you needed it most. Maybe you’ve found it difficult to get emotional support after diagnosis. You may have experienced challenges at work, struggled with the cost of living with diabetes, or wished there were more local community groups where you could meet others who understand your journey.

These are exactly the kinds of conversations we want to have.

What Do You Think Is Missing?

We’re asking everyone in the diabetes community to tell us:

  • What practical support would make living with diabetes easier?
  • What challenges do you face that nobody seems to be talking about?
  • What do you wish other diabetes charities offered?
  • What information, services or resources would genuinely help you?
  • If you could create the perfect diabetes charity, what would it look like?

No idea is too big or too small.

Whether it’s financial guidance, mental health support, better education, peer support groups, workplace advice, access to products, family support or something completely different, we want to hear your thoughts.

Your Voice Matters

The charity we’re building won’t simply be for people living with diabetes—it will be built with them.

Every response we receive will help us understand where support is needed most and where we can make the biggest difference.

By taking just a few minutes to share your experiences, you’ll be helping to shape a charity that could support thousands of people across the UK for years to come.

I founded More Than Diabetes after 13 years in financial services, because too many people with diabetes were being priced out of cover or turned away completely. I hold the Certificate in Insurance (Cert CII). I still get a kick out of telling someone they have been accepted when they thought they had no chance.
